What Should We Call These Things We Cook On?
« on: October 05, 2017, 12:04:39 PM »

Is it a pellet grill?  Well, it's not really a grill.

Is it a pellet pit?  Not really a pit either.

Is it a pellet smoker?  Close, but most units do more than smoke.

Is it a Pellet unit?  This is the way I'm currently leaning but it's not very descriptive to the uninitiated.

What's your preferred term?

Pellet cooker perhaps. Or if you go with the Biblical reference posted in a previous thread: "Smoking Firepot".

I'll go with "PIT" not that is 100% correct but the closest and probably the best understood in the world of BBQ.

Unit just sounds 'sterile' to me. No idea why. I prefer smoker or cooker, but pit works just as well.

That's how I feel about it.  It doesn't tell me anything.  I was hoping for something more descriptive.

So far we are leaning toward pit.
