Not pellet but really good.
« on: October 20, 2024, 05:48:30 PM »

I probably have only used any of the pellet cookers 2 or 3 times this year. Bought a used weber 22" kettle last fall and started using it, then bought one with a cart and also a small and medium Vortex. So most of the cooking has been on one of these and the last few cook I have been using the little 14" smokey joe I bought a long time ago.

Whole different flavor profile on charcoal vs pellets, the chicken reminds me of the fire company chicken BBQs they used to have all he time around me, there are still a few here and there but not as many as there once was.

Made thighs on this last weekend and legs today, Garlic jalapeno on 3 of the and kosmo's hot dirty bird on the other 3.

Not as quick or as easy as the pellet cooker. Bu still good eats.

Charcoal Grilled Chicken.  That looks wonderful, and what I cut my teeth on to learn how to grill starting about 48 years ago!  Did you brine it?  The drumstick is my favorite piece of the Bird!

No brine, it was a what are we having for dinner morning, I saw these in the freezer and got them thawed in a stock pot of cold water in about 1.5 hour.

Didn't think about it, we are having chicken tomorrow evening, but it is going to be buffalo chicken pasta for some of her family.

Had small cheap charcoal grills in the past, but not used one for many years. Used to love grilling up some fresh country sausage in casings in a nice spiral.

I cook a lot on my Weber 22" and usually throw a handful of pellets on it to give it the extra smoke and flavor.

I love my Weber 22" .  I almost always use it to cook tri tip. I throw wood chunks on it. And I like chicken on it as well. Yours looks great!
