The news that Pellet Fan was going to come to an end in its current form hit me kind of hard. This group has meant a lot to me over the past several years. However, when I stopped to think about it, I realized this isn’t the first time the page has undergone a major transition. When I first joined on the "other" page, it was shortly after Larry had passed away. There was a lot of uncertainty about what would happen going forward (that is probably an understatement)! Despite the confusion, when Pellet Fan became established, people were able to navigate their way to the new site. I have always found the information and comradery that is shared on this forum to be genuine and truly helpful. I am glad that we will be able to continue the conversation on Facebook. That being said, there is a lot of information on these pages that I would hate to see lost to the ages.
I have an idea. I don’t know if it will work, but it might be worth a shot. My wife has put together electronic newsletters for various organizations using Mail Chimp. In talking with her, I think we can fairly easily put together an e-cookbook. It could feature some of the favorite “go to” recipes on the forum, along with various reviews, discussions, and pictures. I do not plan on editing the wording from the original content. It will simply be cut and pasted from the forum and arranged on the page for the cookbook.
What I would like to do is use the different categories on the forum as chapters. To start with, I will list one chapter at a time. Once a category has been listed, please search the pages for anything you would like to have included in the cookbook. Please post the link to the page you would like included. Please feel free to dig deep into the archives and have fun with it. I will start by posting a thread for the "Recipe Section."
When a chapter is completed, I can email it to anyone who would like a copy. I am going to be learning as I go, so we’ll see how it goes. It can be as detailed or as simple as we would like to make it. Being electronic, there is no publishing or mailing costs. However, it should be formatted in a way that it can be printed, if anyone would like a hard copy.
Hopefully this will be a good way to reminisce a bit and preserve a little bit of what has been accomplished by the many participants on the forum.
