Are You Cooking for Memorial Day?
« on: May 24, 2018, 07:26:21 AM »

We will be having the whole family for Memorial Day -- all 8 of us (we are a pretty small family!!).  I am going to get Bent to do some pork ribs and hamburgers on the Memphis Pro and then pretty standard sides -- baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw.  I think I might do "Build your own Sundaes" for dessert.

Anyone else que'ing on Memorial day -- either big or small event?

No, I think I'll be grilling chicken quarters, some with BBQ sauce and some without.  We'll also serve those standard Memorial Day and Independence Day sides.

Not sure yet, but I will be turning about 50# of beef, pork, and venison into jerky between today and Sunday.  I took today and tomorrow off to make this a 5 day weekend.

I will be cooking the next 2 days because I have to work Sat-Thur this week.

Brought home Ribeye steaks home from work. (Had a bad night so could not cook them last night)
Went to cash & Carry and got a beef knuckle to make into some country style ribs.

I had planned on doing several racks of ribs in my new Copperhead, but the weather forecast is not good.  We live about 10 miles from the gulf coast in Alabama and the possible heavy rain and thunderstorms from a tropical storm does not look good for doing this.

Planning a brisket and a couple butts on Monday so I can package up some of it for some friends that have a kiddo in the hospital for a while. Saturday will probably do a Turkey breast and Johnsonville hot links.

On Sunday while we hang out on the deck and listen to the Indy 500 we will smoke some wings and a small butt to make pulled pork nachos.  Then on Monday we will smoke a couple cowboy cut rib eyes .

My son is heading out of town on Monday, so we'll be cooking Saturday and Sunday. Picked up a prime Brisket, doing some country style ribs from a shoulder, and maybe smoke a chicken or two.

I'm not cooking anything specifically for Memorial day, but I'm pretty certain I'm going to cook a brisket this weekend... Probably start Friday night and plan on consuming much of it on Saturday. ( and eat leftovers Sunday and probably monday too. :) )

I'll be in Chicago with the little lady Fri & Sat.
Then Sunday, I'll want to keep it simple, Maybe get some meaty pork "Country Style" ribs (shoulder) and cook them low and slow all day Sunday. (thanks for the idea bregent)

Cooking a pork butt, 5 racks of babybacks, 6 lbs of pork belly for “burnt ends”, a chuck roast for burnt ends, chicken quarters, and dogs and burgers all to get done at the same time between a Memphis Pro and a Classic Kamado Joe.
