Two Tri Tips that I picked up at Costco rubbed with the Kinder’s

I think I paid $7.99 a lb.  Comes as a 3-pack. I put the 3rd one in the freezer.

Grill at 600 fat side up for 6 minutes then flip and continue grilling until internal reaches 145 in the thickest part. This is the char on the first side after it was pulled from the grill

How is that rub?  I will have to look for it.  I've seen other rubs by that brand at Sam's and have a few but didn't use them yet.

Let the meat rest for a few minutes until the juices start flowing. Try and slice across the grain as best you can. Tough to do with a Tri Tip as the grain tends to twist and turn.

When this rub mixes with the juice it is KILLER.  I like to flip and flop the pieces in the sauce before adding them to a bun with Mayo and provolone cheese.
Also the burnt end tips are dynamite when dipped in the sauce.

Regarding the rub: My son in law who is a CA native born and raised and knows his Tri Tip said: "What was the seasoning you used on the Tri Tip?  That was really good!"  Said he went home and told his brother how good the Tri Tip was.  Speaks for itself I guess. I have used it on a steak and found it very flavorful as well.  You won’t go wrong with it.

As an added bonus I had to cook bacon to be used in the Kalico Beans I served with the meal yesterday.

Here is the recipe for the Kalico Beans. From an old church recipe book from years ago. Have made them many times. I leave out the white sugar but do use the brown sugar portion.

We also add a can of Lima beans to the recipe. Can either be frozen or canned.

The beans looks good.  Have a picnic to go to Monday, may have to try them.  I know Trooper has made these a couple of times at Competitions for Friday dinner.  Are Lima and Butter the same?  I would have to replace them and the Kidney.  Neither are my favorite.  Red bean for Kidney and Navy for Butter!

What temp for the bacon? Was it thick or regular?  I had a fire when I tried it without a drip pan. (bad control which I have since replaced)
