What Pellet Flavor Are You Using for Thanksgiving?

I think Bent might be using oak, but not sure.  Will have to let him answer.  I would use walnut, but I don't think we have any left.

I'd stay with fruit woods. In a perfect world it would probably be plum. Cherry,  peach,  apple or some combination would be good. I've been meaning to take a hunk of wood and put it directly on top of the diffuser.

After 20+ years of cooking on mine and other pellet units, I have come to believe that Hardwood is Hardwood.  I will say some pellets have made my units perform poorly, but from a smoke profile I just cant tell a difference.

Since we went to the new Binford 3000 mouse proof system, I just do not know exactly what we will be cooking on.  I am pretty sure there is Cherry, Hickory. Maple, and Oak in there!

My usual pellet: a blend of hickory, maple, and cheery.

In days gone by I would swap pellet flavors depending on what I was cooking, but now its just what's in the hopper. (Lumberjack 100% hickory).  I do think I can tell a difference when using straight hickory or mesquite, but beyond that no.

Hope they are good.

I see Traeger has a turkey blend and brine kit for Thanksgiving available at select stores.  The pellets are advertised as containing oak, hickory, maple, and rosemary.

My pork and poultry really like the mix of maple, peach & pecan.  It smells so good when cooking.

Ditto. However I can tell the difference when using a Mesquite blend as well. All others .... not so much.
