Maybe it’s just me but I absolutely love a pellet smoker, the concept of it makes perfect sense to me but I want more. I really want to grill on a pellet grill so I’m wondering why there aren’t more straight up grill designs out there? Sure there are smokers that you can grill on, the PG500 comes to mind & I'm seriously lusting for one in fact. In my mind after heating my home for years with a pellet stove I would love to make the jump to pellet cooking for all my outdoor cooking needs. I have a pellet smoker that I can add a gas seat box on, I have a 36†griddle, some gasser’s, some charcoal grills but what I really want is great grill or maybe even a smoker that doubles as a great grill. I’ve even considered & looked around for a used Charbroiler but that’s probably a little too big for my patio unfortunately.
Maybe it’s too soon? I think we are on the verge of seeing some changes in the industry, seems like there isn’t much innovation besides WiFi, moveable grates & small sear stations that require you to shift hot food around when you want to sear. So besides the PG500 which is a tick over my $1300-$1500 max budget & a little small for a cooking area what is out there that does a great job grilling? Am I missing something or just have to wait for the rest of the world to catch up to me?
