Lil upgrade for my old Traeger
« on: March 04, 2018, 07:37:47 PM »

Decided to add a folding front shelf to my 10 year old Traeger BBQ070. Of course had to cook something while at it. Wind finally decided to calm down some today. Decided on a boneless turkey breast. I buy these at a local grocery store already marinated in a cracked black pepper and thousand island mixture. Smoked at 225 until internal temp of 165. Sliced some up to put on my salad tonight. Remaining will be sliced up for lunches this week.

Yeah it’s my go to. I have a Timberline 850, but I always go back to the BBQ070. I guess it’s like having a favorite pair of shoes.

I like it. Just haven’t used it much yet. I let it set for several months until they got the issue with the soot resolved. It’s definitely leaps and bounds above my old 070. I’ll be running it through it’s paces sine the weather is getting better.

Is there an update on the soot issue of the Timberline 850?    The Traeger section has been quiet lately.

I’m happy to report my last couple of low and slow cooks have been soot free. I received an email from Traeger stating they would be releasing another software update in the near future.

The front shelf is great! It’s the one thing I kinda miss with the new Memphis. Nothing like tossing a sheet pan on a front shelf and loading or unloading a butt or brisket. You’re gonna love that add on.
