I've only had 5 of the 20.  Who knows now when I will ever get back to Chicago on a regular basis to be able to try some of these others.

Paradise pup or Johnnie's look the best to me.

Al's looks like it is pot roast.
Johnnie's looks good, but needs more beef.
Portillo's I have had and at least at the suburban location we ate at, not for me.
Buona was a top 5 for me.
Patio needs more Giardiniera.

A California Cheese Steak from Biaggio's Pizzeria, Allentown, PA - This is the small size.  Large is 50% bigger.

That looks good....and messy. I add banana peppers to mine occasionally as well. Looks like tomato, lettuce, and pickle as well? Anything else?

I would try it with the tomato, the pickles are definitely out!

That is one thing I miss about living back east, good cheese steak sandwiches.

I am heading out of state for a few weeks so I decided to have a cheesesteak before I leave since I won't get to have one for a while. ;D

Having lived in California for 52 years of my 60+ years, I wonder what makes this cheese steak get that designation?
