Alternative to Kozmos Buffalo wing dust?
« on: October 23, 2018, 03:23:49 PM »

Looks like Kozmos raised their prices and shrunk the packaging on their wing dust. This was my go to for smoked buffalo chicken wings but now I'm wondering if I have to just suck it up and pay the higher price or if anyone has a recipe or alternative product that's more reasonably priced.

Any tips?

Frank's makes a Red Hot powder.  Have you tried that?

Never sure what to make of that, I guess it says I have way more business then I ever expected...

I really like their wing rubs but they went $15 for 5 oz is just nuts.

I used to use rotisserie seasoning on the wings while cooking and before saucing.  Sometimes that is too salty as well.

As for the Frank's seasoning, I mixed it with a dry blue cheese powder to use on a chicken jerky that i made one time.  I have not used it on anything else.  I did try a fingertip taste of it to generate my assessment that it was very salty.
