I quite watching when the King retired, then got a kick out of everyone saying how #3 was the greatest...shoot, he could not hold the Kings oil filter!

Forgot it was on, cold and dreary here, so will watch the start, tape it and go back and look for any crashes!

Its is not as fun to watch as it was 20 years ago, that is for sure.
I keep an interest because me and a buddy bet on each race.

No disrespect to you personally, but I always thought that it was kind of funky that the major attraction of an event is to see if someone gets hurt. Other than the crashes, to me, it's kind of like watching wheat grow, maybe if they put in a betting window it would be more interesting. P.S., I know that it is said in some circles, that auto racing is the most popular spectator sport in the country.

None taken, but I am not looking for death or injury, just 4000 lbs. auto flying and rolling through the air.  I have seen some spectacular crashes in the last 15 years, and the driver gets out and shakes his head and walks over to the wrecker.  That is what I am looking for.  Then I see something like Earnhardt hit the wall in 2001 and think nothing or it, what I thought was a bump, and he is dead.

I saw horrible crashes growing up watching Indy and Formula 1, the Swede Savage was the worst!  Glad that NASCAR has become a very safe motor sport.

The pit lane accident was interesting!  And the 10 to go was spectacular from the amount of cars involved, but made for an anti-climatic finish!

It seems like every big track race ends that way which is another reason I quit watching years ago.

Never saw so many sparks in my life.  Then to have it repeat with only a few laps to go.  For a while I thought the pace car was going to win - he was almost the only one left.

I can't hardly stand to watch the Daytona races anymore, nor Talladega for that matter.    The modern cars just don't work well on those super speedways.  It seems like it's pure luck if you can get to the end without getting caught up in a massive wreck ( or two or three wrecks ).

 I honestly feel they need to abandon the two tracks, either that or design cars that are specially made for those races. Ones that have the same weight, horsepower, and shape of the cars they ran in 1969.

 I really could barely stand watching that race  yesterday.
