The price isn't as off putting as having to be in line at 6 am for the priviledge of a 5 hour wait!  At this point in life, I am not sure I can think of a food worth waiting that long for.  Maybe I should start a thread and see if folks can give me ideas!

I'm with you.  Not much of anything is worth waiting 5 hours in line for IMO.

I could not stand in line 5 hours even if it was free! No patience for lines.

Yes they do. When someone talks Brisket, the name Franklin will soon follow.

That reminds me of one of my Southern friends: If there was a line-up for anything, he would go elsewhere.

$19 a pound and a 5 hour wait.  Hard pass.

But what a great business success!  Would love to know at what price there is no line?  Also, I guess 95% of his business is tourist, cuz when I was working I could not spend 4 hours for lunch!

One other question, any idea on average how long the food last? i.e. they sell out by Xpm...and if I get there at 1pm and they still have food, is the line still 3 hours long?

Before they open they go through the line and see what people are going to order. This helps them understand when to cut off the line and close shop. From my understanding they always sell out as they only cook a certain amount. There was a person who arrived around 9:30 and they were hoping to get in by 1:00 if they had anything left.

You can preorder for pickup if you order 5 pounds or more. https://preorder.franklinbbq.com/

Getting a group together and pre-ordering would be the way for me to go!

Yes that isn't a bad option. I did run into a lady who was doing this exact thing.

at risk of being redundant yes, this is the way to go!  I'm not sure why people making what amounts to a pilgrimage don't do this.    I really think it's a lack of knowledge of the option to order in bulk or pre-order.

Pecan Lodge in Dallas Texas (my personal favorite).  The Trough $79 (feeds 4-5) 1 beef rib, 1 lb pork ribs, 1lb brisket, 1/2 lb pulled pork, 3 sausage links.   Now last time I was there they had sides in that too.  But still for 4-5 people it's under $100.   Not bad at all in my book, and less than 5 minute line while singles are waiting an hour.

4-5 people?  That may last a day over a few meals for me ;D

What kind of annual income would I have to make to pay $110 for a .99/lb. piece of meat, or $65 for a $8 rack of ribs..  Or how many kicks to the head?
