Do You Have a Favorite Commercial BBQ Sauce?
« on: September 17, 2017, 09:12:13 AM »

I know a lot of folks like to make their own.  Years ago, I did also.  Now, I am a lot more lazy.  I either use commercial or doctor it just slightly.  But I think commercial sauces aren't that bad overall.

If your favorite isn't listed, post it and I'll add it.  Feel free to comment on any of the sauces, good or bad.  It's a secret poll, so no one will ever know if you do secretly like one of those commercial sauces. :pig:

I like Stubbs original on brisket.

I like sweet baby rays as a dipping sauce for things, but never cared for it as a slather for meat. If I do use it as a meat sauce, I water it down quite a bit to thin it out. It's the only sauce my daughter will eat so if she wants wings or something I'll use it for that occasionally.

Haven't had very many on the list.

I need a option of... I can't pick a favorite...   I don't use them very often, but I find many are actually quite good.   Recently I got into some mustard based sauces... Sticky Fingers makes a good one, but so does Sweet Baby Ray...   There have been times that I liked Stubbs, but those times are fewer and fewer...

Sometimes, I just like the simplicity of pulling a bottle from the fridge... or in trying a new brand/style that I see on the shelf in a store.   I'm the only one in my family that even likes BBQ sauce.. so I don't ever put it on stuff as I'm cooking, at least not very often... like one in 30 cooks might have sauce on during cooking phase.

Competition we use KC Masterpiece and Stubbs mixed half and half with a few of our own additions.  Around the house I use Louisburg Cider Mill Honey Crisp Apple BBQ Sauce.

Lately I seem to be making my own sauce more often than not.  But, when I do use a commercial sauce, it's usually Famous Dave's Rich and Sassy, or Wee Willy's Original Formula.

I don't think you need to add it.  It's not very popular.

I usually have some Famous Daves Devils Spit, a customer used to stop and pick it up for me.

I like Cattlemans Gold on chicken mostly.

Many are not aware, but Bulls Eye is a Kraft product.
And makes for a very nice sauce.
I see Bentley hasn't voted yet, cause his favorite is at 0% right now.

Trooper I used Bulls Eye when I lived in Michigan and it is a good product.  I'll have to look for it to see if it's being carried in any of the stores.

Famous Dave's is about the best I can find in the grocery stores.  Blues Hog if I can make a 20 mile road-trip.

I am a big fan of Rufus Teagues.  I also use quite a big of Cattlemans.  Pretty good sauce and GFS has had it on for 9.99 a gallon with a $6 mail in rebate 3.99 for a gallon is hard to beat
