If we make it to the American Royal next year, I would love to do some taste testing -- redo the chicken brine testing, do some smoke testing (see if folks can recognize different pellet woods on meats) and I would like to do a sauce testing.  But I need testers, so you all would have to come to the AR for a couple of days and all be testers for PelletFan.com.  But it is in the name of science, so I am sure you all won't mind the trip!!!

Most of the commercial sauces are too sugary for me, but Sweet Baby Rays came out with a chipotle version that I can actually obtain in my area. The chipotle version adds enough heat to offset the sweet. Sometimes I like to make my own, but it takes longer than my patience lasts, and is usually reserved for larger back yard parties.

my buddy brought over a bottle of that chipotle sauce yesterday but I didn't try it yet.  It was on sale for $1 at a local grocery store for their Friday one day specials.

Mine is not on the list: Wee Willy's Original.  He is a local MN guy who took first place at the Jack back in 2002.  It may be hard to find in other places outside of MN.

I used it on my 2015 Royal ribs.  Thought it would be a nice change from the Blues Hog that the judges are so used to tasting.  It worked.

Have tried a few on the list, but always seem drawn back to Stubbs or Masterpiece depending on the cook.

Sweet Baby Ray's....It is the kids favorite and Costco sells it.  Makes my life easy and I like it too.  If I mop with it, I thin it out.

Apple Cider Vinegar sometimes.  With pork ribs, I actually add honey and thin with water.
