So do you have to have a Smart TV to make use of most of these services?

1. You could buy a Roku or Amazon Firestick to plug into an HDMI port in your TV and stream via your wifi or if you have your cable modem close to your tv you can run an ethernet cable from the modem to the tv for faster speeds than wifi.
2. You could buy a google chromecast and stream from your phone or laptop to your tv
3. You could buy a smart blu ray or DVD player if they exist anymore and use apps that may be on it to play through your TV
4. Some things could be watched on a laptop

Most of these services that folks are talking about require a monthly or annual paid subscription though.  Although, Roku and some other services have apps that have free classic TV shows and movies.

I second the vote for the BlackList. Really makes you think, been watching it since the start.

We started an OLD HBO mini series Band of Brothers last night, 2 episodes in, but really like it. Amazon Prime Video has it right now. I've heard Hunters is pretty good as well.

BBQ with Franklin on PBS is interesting, you can access it through a smart TV PBS app or online I believe. You might just have to create an account with PBS and identify your local affiliate. You probably won't learn too much you don't already know, but it's interesting seeing his cooking style and watching him build and use stick burners.

American Epic on Amazon Prime Video - the 4th episode has modern musicians recording on the 1920's equipment that the first phonograph records were made on.

Netflix,
Peaky Blinders it can be gruesome and blunt, but a really good series. About the Peaky Blinders Gang in early 1900's. Also The Black List is good.

Just finished season 6 of Blacklist, I like it.

I have 15 more free rentals from Dish's referral plan to watch.  Plus I have been recording a lot of shows from the free preview of Showtime/TMC including Homeland.  If this stretches out longer than all of that I have a ton of Bluray/DVD's to watch.

I have been watching the Blacklist, but for lighter viewing we watch Startrek The Next Generation. Startrek is comfort food like macaroni and cheese.

I am on Netflix and still looking for good stuff. There is so much there that it can be hard to know what is good.

I probably have not watched more than a dozen movies in my life time but night before last, we had my brother-in-law and his wife over for dinner and watched the movie "Ford vs Ferrari" on Amazon Prime. The wife and the in-laws thought that it was very good. As for me, it just reminded me why I don't watch movies.  ???

The best part about Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+ is that you can watch many movies quickly by fast forwarding  :)

Going to take a look at Peaky Blinders also.

It is a good watch.  If you are anything like me you will find yourself randomly belting out "Peaky Blinders" in your best (or worst) English accent multiple times a day trying to mimic Arthur Shelby the best that you can.  You will understand once you watch.
