Mayo in our house.   I like Hellmans but the wife prefers Dukes.

I must be odd, I like them both. Grew up with both in the fridge, Woman (my Mother) used to make mac salad and used both in it, she did tater salad also but not a big fan of tater salad.

I have come to making grilled cheese using mayo instead of butter. I am a butter of margarine person, trying to spread cold butter on bread is a nightmare, mayo works so much better.

There are some things i am not sure MW would work for, she used to make a couple different cakes that used mayo in them not sure MW would go so well in them.

The Chicagoland (and now semi national) Italian Beef place, Portillo's, makes a great, moist, chocolate cake that they use mayo in.  Probably my favorite cake ever!

Neither.
I am to the point that I very rarely use either one.

I'm with Bentley and Bar-B-Lew,
Like Bentley, I grew up on Miracle Whip and never knew what Mayo tasted like.
I bought first jar of Mayo because we were having friends over and coincidentally, we were making BLT's.
I tried it and we switched.  Less sugar.

I noticed a couple mentions flavored Mayo.
Guess I never payed attention in the store.
One of them may have to "accidentally" drop in the basket next time in the store.

I have a deep seated aversion to both miracle whip and ketchup. Tried both at least one time in my life, not a fan. :puke:

Until I was in my teens the only thing my family ever used was Miracle Whip, they called it mayo. Since I never really liked Miracle Whip anyway, once I found out abut real mayo, I've never even tried Miracle Whip.

Miracle Whip, ketchup and relish= 1000 island dressing.
Miracle Whip and relish= tarter sauce. I will not eat fish unless I have this.
Miracle Whip, tuna, and relish= tuna salad.
Miracle Whip and mustard = great for ham and roast beef sandwiches. My mom will take cooked roast, put in the food processor with MW and make beef spread.

Plus I grew up on MW.

Mayo is just hydrogenated soybean oil with eggs added in. Not a fan.

This subject really hits home for me. I grew up on miracle whip and prefer it. But my wife is a mayo person. So I’ve adopted mayo.

However, I will not compromise on some things.

Must have miracle whip for the following:
Egg salad
Bologna/cheese sandwich (and yellow mustard)
Homemade BLT
Summer tomato sandwich
Leftover Thanksgiving turkey sandwich

Mayo is fine for tuna salad and other sandwiches.

I would never substitute MW when making a mayo based sauce or dip, etc.

I went to light miracle whip to save calories. Now I am used to it. Full strength mayo is too rich for me.

The main thing I use it for is Tuna sandwiches. I take a full can of tuna, add one heaping tablespoon of light miracle whip, plus sweet pickle relish.

Put it on a toasted small slices of Dave's Killer bread. It comes out very meaty and chunky, rather than pasty like a lot of tuna sandwich filling.

Miracle Whip....

The bread spread...

Grew up on it.

Sounds weird, but it is great in a toasted cheese sandwich, especially dunked in tomato soup..
