Winter 20/21 - Second Nor'easter 1/31-2/2
« on: January 31, 2021, 04:42:26 PM »

It started to snow here about 1pm today.  It is supposed to end about 1pm on Tuesday.  Yep, you read it right...48 hours of snowfall.  The last forecast I read a few hours ago projected up to 26".

How are others in the Midwest and East Coast getting hit by on or both of these storms that seem to be uniting on top of my house and sticking around for a few days.

Ours started at about 3am this morning.  We have about 5 inches on the ground. Supposed to snow on and off till tomorrow, but we are only to get another inch in that time frame.  Our storm came from Ohio & Mississippi valleys!

Our storm is coming from your storm and meeting a storm coming from the Midwest.

I've been working at home for over 5 years now so tomorrow will be just like a regular work day for me.

We were supposed to get 5 to 9 inches. As per usual, we got the low end. Even with the drifts it's maybe 6 inches.

My wife and Iike snow and winter. Haven't had many good ones as of late. It was disappointing that almost all of the snow came down overnight and we didn't get to watch. (I sound like I'm 80, but I swear I'm only 42).

The upside was the stores were nearly deserted. I can't tell you the last time I went to Costco on the weekend where it wasn't a zoo. There were maybe 15 people there. Target was also a ghost town. Amazing.

We are here in West Central NJ, so similar predictions that BBL indicated.  I just cleared a path to my gasser to grill off some zucchini.  There is already 4-5 inches piled on my RT, so did not want to try and clear it now and maybe have some fall into the hopper.  And just like BBL, since all my travel has stopped the past 11 months, tomorrow and tuesday will just be normal work from home days.  Stay safe, dry and warm all!

SW PA here, they told us it was to start early this morning (Sunday) and we would see several inches on the ground by Sunday night. I was just outside we have maybe an inch. The last thing I saw said 8 to 12 through Tuesday. The second storm of the century this winter.

I would say we have had about 6-8 inches so far, but apparently the heavy stuff is about to start as the Nor'Easter has formed.  Forecasts are in the 16-22 inch range as of now.  Still 24+ hours to watch this play out.

That is a lot, we ended at maybe 5 inches and according to the reports and radar it is done!  From the look of the radar you get it all morning and most of this afternoon!

From what I have read, these storms are like a hurricane in that they are bringing moisture from the ocean in a counterclockwise motion blowing back into the land and dumping snow.  This is supposed to happen for about 24 hours ending at around 1pm tomorrow with snow rates of up to 3" per hour at times.

I am just outside of Allentown. We are getting hammered with the heavy snow right now.  You can see we are in the darker blue band at the moment.
