These are the ones I can't figure out what to do with.  Not even sure what they are.  They look like what I consider a Birdseye Chili, not thick enough I don't think...but I have no idea what they are.  Anyone ever make Chili Oil?

They look like those little chili in some Chinese/oriental food? Demon red chili maybe? Tobasco chili plant?

After looking at pictures it might be a Cayenne...(?)  Should work well for a Chili Oil after it is dried!

It took about 20 hours with the whole Chili.  There is definitely a difference in finished color between Red & Green.

Bentley,

Once you've made the end product, I'll be curious as to how much smoke flavor is being added.

IOW how much difference from just using a dehydrator can you taste.

I guarantee you if I had a dehydrator I would not be using the pit.  I have eaten the dried red ones and they taste different then say eating a fresh one in a salad, but not sure I would call it a "smoky" difference!

I do not know what IOW means...just an FYI.

Definitely not Tabascos....you could go to a site called Chile Peppers (.com). They have a huge assortment of chiles to compare them to.

The small red chilies came from a plant that was labeled "Red Hot Chili Peppers" when I bought it. I looked them up.  Species: Capsicum Annuum
Heat Level: 25,000-40,000 SHUs.
