rub the outside of it with butter also, be generous on the butter on the cut side. I have put steak seasoning on it also.
Whole I have done the same, just cut out the heart and butter and some beef bouillon cubes crushed or some powder in the hole jam a stick of butter in there also. Been a while since i have done any, again I am the only person that would eat it here. I used ham base one time and it was pretty good also.
Not sure how long it took,mine were probably done in the electric cookshack and not pellet.
Browned with in the skillet or on the griddle with some onions is good also.
I make Halushki a times, and have fine sliced some and kind of steamed then added in pasta sauce and meat for a spaghetti alternative.
And you can never go wrong with just cutting a chunk off and have it in one hand and the salt shaker in the other.
