Once I did prime rib at 225F start to finish...  I've never felt a need to cook it any other way...

A local grocer (Publix) has choice standing rib roast on sale for $7.99.  Is this a good price?  Also was does
"Boned and Tied for Easy Carving" mean?

That price seems fair to me, I just bought the whole roast at Sams and I paid $8.99 I think.
"Boned & Tied for easy carving" means they have relieved the bone from the meat (cut it free) and then re-tied it as if it were still intact.
Someone had mentioned that earlier in this thread, great way to get some dinosaur bones out of the deal.
I'd say jump on it, you will make a great meal.

It depends on the grade. If Select, I'd pass. Get Choice or better.

Not a bad price for USDA Choice, although I swear the USDA Choice at Costco always seems better then any other place I have bought it, Restaurant Depot, Walmart, Safeway and Food Lion!

I checked at Costco and everything they had was way to big.  I don't remember what the cost was per pound.

Duh. Just reread your post and see you mentioned it was Choice.

Did you ask anyone in the meat department if they would cut one for the size you needed.   I don't shop at Costco so not sure on their policy but I do have a Sam's Club membership and a few years back I asked and it was no problem, asked me the size and date wanted and it was ready and waiting.

No, I did not.  I am 45 miles away from them so I can't check for a while.  We go there every 2 or 3 months and stock up on everything.

I need to repackage and freeze most of the meat I buy at Costco.  I think it may be your answer.

I went to Publix early yesterday morning and this is what I got.  I think it will be the perfect size for just us two.  It has four bones.

It will!  It is big enough to cook nicely, and you will have some leftovers.

People say I ask stupid questions, but I will anyway.  Do you like roast beef, and do you have a slicer?

I love roast beef, but I do not have a slicer.

Good sharp knife will do.  And it will be much more tender then your average roast beef, so it does not need to be cut as thin!
